Any flaws?
Yes, unluckily there are. But I think it can be because my sample is one of the very first versions, in case it would be probabily improved soon, I don’t know.
The main defect is that, sooner or later, the grid will clogs up, the bigger loads will accumulate and they will compromise the efficiency of the filter, which has to be cleaned and replaced. Similarly, the problem shows up when a sharp load rips the filter.
The price for all the Reef Roller, both manual and automatic
The price of the Reef Roller M in our possess is 209,99 euros, while the S version costs 199,99 euro and the L version costs 249,99 euro. The automatic versions cost respectively 289,99, 329,99 and 359,99 euro. Certainly a more demanding price.
The rolls cost 21,99 euro for what concerns the Reef Roller small of 20 metres of length and 29,99 euro for the other two of 45 metres of length. Actually it’s this detail that makes us recommend the medium version, since that paying just 50% more you get more than twice the length.
The dimensions of the medium version in our possess amount to 26,5 cm in width per approximately 16 cm in depth. Its height amounts, without the glass connection module, to 29 cm. The base, that’s narrower, amounts to more or less 16×13 cm.
Conclusions
I had been searching for years for something that would allow me to filter the water without having to get my hands often into the aquarium, like it happened with the socks. Or that wouldn’t create bacterial flora able to increase the nitrates, like the perlon wool. The roller filter Reef Roller by TMC it’s perfect. It’s relatively cheap, a little less then 200 euro, but it solves the problem once and for all, elegantly, practically and without electricity costs.
I can’t affirm it’s the best roller in circulation, but surely it works very well. Of course, I missed the automatic version with even less maintenance.
Be careful that the bigger and sharp loads could damage and compromise the filter.
