Just yesterday we have presented our preview of the Radion XR30w G2 PRO and now Ecotech Marine has introduced its third generation of the acclaimed XR30w Radion LED ceiling lights, of which we are testing either version G2 (preview) and G2 PRO (preview) version.
Aesthetically, the ceiling is very similar to those we know, but it’s changed the fan, which now seems much easier to remove and clean up and new upper buttons are easier to identify and use.
Ultraviolet LEDs and Indigo were also added to the Radion XR30w G3 to broaden the spectrum and bring it closer to what is now the XR30w G2 PRO. While the new PRO version, Radion XR30w G3 PRO, will now be equipped with Cree XP-G2 and Osram Oslom square LEDs to push even further the amount of PAR produced by this new ceiling light and differentiate themselves from the old.
Among the images that emerged from this new presentation, there are also those relating to the distribution of the PAR that although it is not exhaustive it gives us some idea how much this new ceiling can deliver in the aquarium.

Unlike the previous generation the G3 will have a broader spectrum before prerogative of only the PRO, while the new PRO will mount the new LED still more powerful than its predecessors.
The ceiling will be sold with the usual T.I.R. lens, total internal reflection, with emission angle of 80°, but can also be equipped with the new lenses from 120°. Equally obviously, the new ceiling will be in all respects compatible with the new Ecotech Marine ReefLink.
The new ceiling will go on sale in Italy in about two weeks with a target price of 660 € for the Radion XR30w G3 and 770 euro for the PRO version, included VAT. The old G2 will remain in production and sales, with the G2 at a reduced price and the G2 PRO with a price approximately equal to 710 Euros.
In the U.S.A. the prices will be:
- Radion G2: $549 (Unchanged)
- Radion Pro: $699 ($50 less than the current price, Effective January 13th, 2014)
- Radion G3: $649 (Effective January 13th, 2014)
- Radion G3 Pro: $749 (Effective January 13th, 2014)
