The new Vertex V6 pump has been presented on the first months of this year, and unveiled during Interzoo in Nuremberg and today we’re happy to have one to test and review for you.
The Vertex V6 pump is the first attempt for Vertex to enter in the return pump market. And Vertex has done the task very very well. The pump is very sturdy, very beautiful, if I can say a pump is beautiful, and it’s built really very well.
Other than that, Vertex has assured us, speaking about the pump during the fair, that the Vertex V6 was built thinking about reliability and noise. We’ll try to confirm these statements with our test.
The pump has been specifically designed to be used inside or outside the sump, and is equipped with all the fitting in white PVC, a beautiful white PVC, ready to be glued with pipes or whatever it could be chosen.

The new Vertex V6 with his 65 watt for 6000 l/h has an efficiency of 92 litres for every watt. A great value, the Sicce Syncra 5 has a worse 47,6, but with 3.8 max height, more then 2,5 of the Vertex, the mighty Eheim 1260 has 37, with similar power consumption but less than the half output, and 3,7 max height.
The reference value of the pump, calculated by output per max height divided by two, is 7500 for Vertex V6, 4440 for the Eheim and 9500 for the Sicce, just to comparison.
On plain paper, which is actually the better is up to your, and our, needs, but if you don’t need big height, the Vertex V6 has the best efficiency.
Here we can see the pump completely disassembled, with titanium screws on the right.
And here the big pink rotor
The pump is sold in Europe for 319,32 euro, and in US for 399 USD, in any case, it’s not a cheap pump. We’ll try to understand if the money are well spent on this pump. Some days ago the pump has been installed on our system, we have taken our measurements, and will do it again after some month of extensive test to compare the results.
In a couple of months we’ll be ready with our in depth review.
