The difference with the last portcullis adjustment setting is big, because the last model had only mid round of setting.
And, because I’m sensitive to these things, I like so much the new label over the knob.
The skimmer adopts, wherever it can, the new EasyFlip mode, so it’s possible to take out the setting body or the silencer, more easily, and if we have to take out the cup with the skimmer on, it’s now possible to flip towards the top the portcullis, to free the outlet, but then when we take down the portcullis again, our setting will be still there.
We can now adjust the air intake thanks to a setting screw, inside the silencer tube, but UltraReef states that working on this screw could result in a damaged pump, and, as this setting improves only the stability, it’s advisable to use only for experts.
The last nice touch is the adopting of titanium screws, from the last AISI316L steel, that in some machines has done some oxid. Nothing to worry about, but titanium is surely better.
What to say more? On plain paper, it seems to be a great skimmer, with improvements done where it needed. And everything without changing the price, as this skimmer costs 550 euro (in Italy), as his predecessor.
A price surely right, and commensurate to the class of this skimmer.
We have also to remember that the UltraReef Akula UKS-180 V15 adopts the Sicce PSK1000 pump, and is adequate for aquarium until 500 liters filled with fishes and SPS, and we think, as his predecessor, it can arrive until 1000 liters aquarium for only fishes.
We hope to have one amongst our hands in a short time to write a very deep review, and you, what do you think about?
