Noise
Calcium reactors, normally, are not noisy. The only noise you can hear is the chipping of CO2 bubbles made by the pump, but this reactor has an unusual method of operation, indeed the CO2 is leaded into the reactor from the top directly in the water recycle, with its pump below. In this manner, CO2 chipping is completely silent. The only noise is generated by the pump, moreover not so loud.
UltraReef UCS 120 is extremely silent, probably the quietest reactor I have ever had. It beats its rival, the Elos Rea 120 plus, with a large pump subject to vibrations.
Conclusions
After 6 months of active use, I can be very pleased with it and I can absolutely recommend it for you. it was impeccable in every condition of use.
It has a probe holder, CO2 recovery system and you don’t need anything else to put it in operation.
The UCS 120 is complete and ready for use.
In my opinion, the UCS 120 is perfect for SPS-LPS tanks up to 5-600 liters, like producers suggest. You could use it in larger tanks but you should top up it frequently.
It could sustain tanks up to 1000-1200 liters, in case you’re breeding soft corals or a mix of hard and soft corals.
The price, 380 euros, is appropriate for this kind of performance. High-class building materials and an impeccable operation nail this evaluation.
