Orphek has recently presented a very special LED pendant, the Atlantik P300.
Designed specifically for large aquariums, where it’s use could effectively replace even HQi 1000 watt lamps!
We have recently received a copy to test and try out and we could not wait to photograph it immediately to make you see this very special and beautiful pendant. Our roadmap then as usual will lead us to make a test with our test equipment and then try it on one of our tanks to see how it will behave with corals.
As we said, this fixture has not been studied at first for home aquariums, because of the power that it can deliver, similar to the Giesemann Galaxy 500 led (sorry the page is only in italian language) that we much liked at Interzoo in Nuremberg, but especially for public aquariums that can afford to keep it suspended at heights greater than one meter from the water. So we were very happy to accept the proposal of Orphek of being able to prove it as world premiere.
The ATP 300 is furnished without a controller but can be controlled by APEX, GHL or any controller capable of PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) control. You could also use any 0-10V dimmer and we will experiment with this. In the future, a wifi module may be released but currently not yet available.
The pendant, as you can see from the photographs is passively cooled, there being no fans or moving parts, and the whole outer shell acts as a huge aluminum heat radiator.
The surface protection of the LEDs is acrylic, and although it is of very good quality is easily replaceable.
The pendant measures 35 cm in diameter and 41.5 cm in height.
The LEDs are 90 Dual Chip 5 watt, but are operating at just under 3 watts to reduce heat and prolong the average life of the LEDs, a really clever idea of Orphek. The net power consumption is equal to 240-250 watts.
What is really interesting is that the number and arrangement of the LEDs can be adjusted to suit your needs, it is in fact part of a standard version but it can be customized at time of order, so as you can intervene on the lenses used for the individual LEDs .
We look forward to testing this beautiful monster and see how it will behave in a real aquarium.
