Rossmont presents Waver, a frequency modulator to adjust our pumps flow rate! [l’articolo in italiano lo trovate qui]
We underlined the fixed rate feature of the Rossmont Mover M5800 since our very first review, after having it in trial for a while.
Today that gap has been finally filled in an elegant and practical way: the new Waver is just what we need to adjust the flow rate of our pumps. We will still use the same old ones we bought, but they will magically start behaving exactly how we ask them to, with an adjustable flow!
Each Waver will be able to control up to a pair of pumps, the device has two separate independent channels.
This news will nicely surprise anyone who ones Rossmont Mover pumps! Not only you won’t need to buy new pumps, but if you want to buy another pair you won’t be charged the higher price of an electronic pump! Rossmont is eager to let everyone know that they are the first manufacturer to produce a controller for aquarium pumps powered by a voltage supply (230VAC – 50 Hz in Italy), meaning that they won’t be presenting new “electronic” pump models or in other way different from those already on the market.
Any model of Rossmont Mover from the M3400 to the newest MX15200 (reviewed here), from the old ones we bought years ago to those we will buy in the future will be compatible with the Waver: we simply need to plug them into the device rather than to the sockets. Without any power supply for the pumps and for the controller we should achieve a superior reliability and a better organization of our tank cabinet also thanks to the absence of too many connection cables.
We should say that a similar attempt was made by Limulus (remember?) roughly 10 years ago, with modules able to adjust the frequency of old pumps like Tunze 6000 and 6100 in a rudimentary way. Here though we are facing a product manufactured by the company itself, which makes us believe it will have better performances and reliability.
Of course we are all asking ourselves if this controller might be used with pumps form other brands! I am sure there will be someone willing to try and do that, but as Limulus was already calibrated for Tunze only, it is possible that the Waver is set to function for Rossmont pumps only. We will definitely verify this when and if we’ll have this device available to study for you.
I will leave you with a demonstrating video made by Rossmont.
The only doubts remaining are those regarding the price and the various control functions available. We can only wait and hope to come across new information as soon as possible.
