As usual Tunze showed the muscles during this Interzoo, bringing many new products on show (qui l’articolo in italiano).
Let’s start talking about one of the accessories which have captured our attention. The controller. In fact if we decided to write a digitalmagazine like DaniReefs – that is about aquariology – it is because we are a bit passionate about technology and not only about aquariums. So we have always loved so much controllers. In these last 16 years which I am part of this world we have seen a lot.
At the beginning electromechanical timers used to play the part of the controller, then the “mythical” multicontroller 7095 has been arrived in the Tunze family to control the mythical Turbelle Stream 6000 and 6100, a very “analog” controller with rollers that decide the various courses requiring the pumps, equipped with status LED. Following arrived multicontroller 7096 (our review here), currently available as the previous one, which has moved to the computer programming that was previously left to the analog rollers. And finally we arrive at Interzoo 2016 where Tunze showed an extraordinary evolution of the concept of Multicontroller revealing to the public the Smart Controller 7000.
Smart Controller 7000 not only allows you to control 4 pumps and display the data on the display, but also it allows you to monitor, view and even modify the pH and the temperature measured in the aquarium. Besides it can control a Tunze LED lamps. Basically it acts like a thermostat that can control the switching on or off of heaters and chillers and can open or close the control valve of the CO2 for the calcium reactor.
Smart Controller 7000 will be sold at the price of 302,40 euro, as you can see on Tunze website, and it is available from september.
Another novelty that captured our attention were the three new calcium reactors, called Calcium Automat, in the hanging version 3170, and in classic configuration the two 3171 and 3172.
The little Tunze Calcium Automat 3170, with the size of 14x11x30 cm and just over a liter of volume, is suitable for a small nanoreef, it is completely boxed to be hung outside the aquarium, while the 3171 that you see in the picture, and that is said to run on aquariums up to 1200 liters, should contain about 2 liters of material, and of course has the pH probe, which can be monitored by the new Smart Controller 7000, the recovery of CO2, plastic fasteners, and a special pump that should lead to a very high level of efficiency the dissolution of CO2.
Above Tunze Calcium Automat 3171 with two inlet and outlet tubes, the CO2 probe, and the particular recirculation system.
Above instead we can see the big Tunze Calcium Automat 3172, of 10 liters of capacity, such as with the size of 31x25x52 cm. With the same features of the younger brother.
The consumption ranging is very interesting, they go from 8 watts of 3170, to 17 watts of 3171 and of the large 3172.
Prices range from 219 Euros for the small 3170, to 368 Euros of 3171 to reach 597 euros of the 3172. All in all a rather limited range for the calcium reactor.
Another innovation presented at Stand Tunze was the little Doc Skimmer 9404, recommended for aquariums up to 250 liters.
All at 294 euro, including the filtering receptacle.
It is also interesting, for small aquarium, the combination Comline ReefPack 100 that we can see in the following picture.
Made by Comline Filter 3161from the left and from Comline Doc Skimmer 9001, both suitable to work on nano aquariums from 30 to 100 litres. 149 euro is the combo available from september.
