The Dutch Colombo had divided its supplements in two groups: the basic ones and those specifics for coloring of the corals.
Also available in: italiano
Obviously we’re not talking about colorants, but trace elements which have a direct interaction with the coloring of some corals, expecially SPS. That is, for those who have been following us recently, hard corals, with calcareous skeleton, with short polyps.
The needed products are four: All In One, Halo Complex, Potassium + and Metals +.
Colombo supplement All in One
The All in One is supplement comprehending all the trace elements for a general use. It’s the first on the left in the picture, it’s in light blue. Specifically, All in One deals with the equilibrium of elements like Iodium, Potassium and Ferrous. Colombo links the consumption of these elements to the consumption of Calcium in aquarium. It suggests a 20 ml dose of this product each 100 ml of its other product, Calcium +. It’s a very easy guide and it can be very good for aquariums without a calcium reactor, otherwise you can even heavily underdose the product, obviously keeping controlling the values of the trace elements. All in One has only one package of 500 ml and costs 13,35 euro. It’s almost 26,70 euro per liter.
Colombo supplement Halo Complex
The Halo Complex supplement, the second in green from the left in the picture, it’s for Iodio, Bromine and Fluorine. Colombo says that Halo Complex helps the develop of pink coloring of corals (we don’t know why Colombo decided to produce this product in green, when it has always had the attention to follow the same chromatic line, but this is just a detail). 1 ml of product each 100 liters increases the iodium content of 0,03 mg/l, when it should be 0,06 mg/l in aquarium. In case of lack of iodium test, Colombo shows a simple method of dosage: administering 8 ml of Halo Complex each 100 ml of Calcium +. We anyway suggest you to use it just with a iodium test. Even Halo Complex is presented in one package of 500 ml with a price of 11,95 euro. So it’s 23,90 euro per liter.
Colombo supplement Potassium +
The Potassium + supplement, the third in fuchsia from the left in the picture, it’s for Potassium and Boron. Colombo presents Potassium + important for the red coloring of corals. 1 ml of product each 100 litersincreases the potassium content of 2 mg/l and boron of 0,01 mg/l. The optimal value of potassium in marine water should be of 380 mg/l, as you can read here, even if Colombo shows 400 mg/l as an optimal value. Like its two “brothers” even Potassium + is sold in a single package of 500 ml and costs 11,95 euro. So its cost per liter is 23,90 euro.
Colombo supplement Metals +
The Metals + supplement, the last one from left in brown in the picture, it’s for Ferrous, Manganese, Cobalt and Nichel. Colombo informs us that Metals + helps green and yellow colorings. 1 ml of product each 100 liters increases the ferrous content of 0,02 mg/l. Colombo says that the optimal value should be 0,15 mg/l. Like its “brothers” even Metals + is sold in a single package of 500 ml and costs 11,95 euro. So its cost per liter is 23,90 euro.
Comments
I like that Colombo wants to be so accurate with its products, declaring what each product contains and the doses it requires. I personally prefer to dose exclusively the trace elements of which I can test the concentration in aquarium. And with Colombo this is possible.
Do you use them? What do you think?
