AF Energy and AF Build are two new products of the AquaForest line directed to the corals’ growth and the food.

Both of them have a very specific function, but they didn’t complete the Aquaforest offer. Build & Energy have been studied to work together. It’s recommended a simultaneous use in marine aquarium, even if you prefer aminoacids from other brands.
AquaForest AF Energy
AF Energy, as suggested by the name itself, is meant to accelerate corals’ growth. They can be either soft corals, LPS and SPS. It’s also good for Tridacna. As you can see in the pictures the product has a liquid form in order to be dosed in aquarium more easily.
Due to its liquid form, AF Energy has to be shaked with energy before the use. The administration is extremely easy: 1 drop every 100 liters of aquarium. Everyday with the lights off. We always repeat, and so AquaForest does, that this is an approximate indication, and it depends on the type and the concentration of corals in aquarium, on the conditions of lighting and filtering, because they could make us decide for increasing or decreasing the dosage. Anyway, it’s suggested to begin with 1/4 of a dose and then double up the dose the following week.
The product contains for the most part zooplankton, aminoacids, vitamins and sugars. An important part of its formulation is the strong presence of fat acids, like Omega 3 and Omega 6. This specific mix reduces the production of zooxanthellae and helps the formation of pastel colors especially in SPS corals.
The product, in the 10 ml package, costs 7,30 euro, while in the 50 ml package costs 19,90 euro. The price for 100 ml tends strongly towards the 50 ml package, with 38,80 euro/100ml against 73 euro/100ml, making it more affordable. We’ve dosed it for few weeks, but it’s too early for a review. For now the corals are reacting well.
AquaForest AF Build
AF Build instead, has been formulated to increase calcium and carbonate consumption by LPS and SPS corals, and tridacna. It’s not useful for soft corals, which don’t have a calcareous skeleton. It helps to stabilize the pH and improve the water transparency. Even this product is in liquid form for an easier dosage.
Due to its liquid form, AF Build has to be has to be shaked with energy before the use. The product contains iodized compounds, that are iodium, calcium and carbonates. So it’s more a supplement than a real feed. This formulation, according to the producer, can keep low the concentration of filamentary seaweeds and helps to prevent the production of cyanobacteriums. Even in this case we have been dosing it for too little time to say if it keeps its promises. But in this case we’ll immediately revise this presentation.
