Tunze‘s booth is, as always, very big and is waiting for us at the pavillion 4. Even this year there were many news, and we’ll see them one by one.
This article is also available in: italiano
Claude Hug, Tunze director, was the one who welcomed us and brought us to meet all the news of the german company.
Algae reactor Tunze MAR 3181 and MAR 3182
The acronym MAR stays for Macro Algae Reactor, that is a reactor for macroalgae. In fact, following the line of other companies, even Tunze presented its new reactor and, as usual, its work is amazing. The two reactors seem build very well and the extremely functional. And, dulcis in fundo, they’re also beautiful at sight.
The preparation is very classic. A cylindrical reactor where it has do be inserted the chosen macroalga, usually the Chaetomorpha, a lamp of inner led and a pump in order to insert water in the reactor from the outside.
The pipes are in silicone. The led lamp is 10 watt for both the reactors.
Technical characteristics of the MAR 3181 and MAR 3182
Let’s see the technical characteristics and the main differences between the two systems:
MAR 3181 | MAR 3182 | |
Aquarium dimensions | 100-600 liters | 500-1.600 liters |
Pump flow | 400-900 l/h | 1.000-2.400 l/h |
Dimensions | 200 x 160 x 400 mm | 310 x 250 x430 mm |
Consumption (lamp + pump) | 15 watt | 40 watt |
We don’t have to say that they are very beautiful. And about the construction there’s something different from the usual reactors: the Chaetomorpha inside the reactor is not fixed, as we expected, but it’s placed in rotation depending from flow rate. The reactors we’ve have seen until today have always had a central lighting, while the Tunze product has it laterally, leaving the inside free. Unfortunately is not possible to appreciate this in picture, but just in person.
From this picture you can appreciate the dimensions of the two reactors in comparison with the human figures.
We don’t have to say that this reactor really impressed us, and we’d like to have one in our hands.
Tunze Stream 3 and the new deflector for laminar flow
Tunze, we already know, never stops improving its products. And so goes also for the deflector for laminar flow.
The deflector has to be mounted on the protection grill and lets the anterior exit of the water with a concentrated laminar flow.
The difference between the use without deflector is macroscopic, obviously if you are interested in a flow like this.
So teh flow is more concentrated and it can go (much) further. The deflector at the fair was free for anyone who asked, and in the catalog it should cost 10 euro.
