The new Shark Skimmers come in two models, consume very little energy, and are quite similar to the Shark Pro filters presented at Interzoo two years ago. The technical design is by Claude Hug, a long-time friend, who created these skimmers along with the Sicce Research and Development team, leveraging their extensive experience and expertise.

Of course, these skimmers represent the state of the art today, and we plan to test one in the fall in our new aquarium. They’re too fascinating to leave on the shelf, don’t you think?

The two new Sicce Shark Skimmers are designed to be installed directly in aquariums where they can perform at their best, but they can also be used in sumps. They are extremely compact, and their low power consumption immediately stands out. Using only 3 to 4 watts seems almost too good to be true! The smaller model uses a Sicce Micra pump, while the larger one uses a Sicce Syncra pump—both of which have been sold for years as centrifugal pumps with impeccable performance. We tested the Sicce Syncra pumps back in 2012 and were impressed with their flawless performance.

The Shark Skimmer 300 features a special self-cleaning impeller that prevents deposits from clogging the system. Additionally, when you turn off the skimmer for cleaning, the water in the pump reverses, flushing the air tube and keeping the skimmer efficient. Believe me, this is something we’ll definitely test once we get our hands on it.

The idea behind this new creation was to deliver an affordable yet highly effective skimmer that consumes very little power and is priced even lower. Indeed, the small Shark Skimmer 150 costs €90, while the larger Shark Skimmer 300 is only €130.

Both skimmers come with a five-year warranty—a guarantee of durability and long-term performance. It’s clear that Sicce is confident in the potential of these two compact skimmers.
