Nyos showcased a booth full of new products this year, starting with the beautiful Opus G2 Pro aquarium… which we couldn’t pass up.

We were welcomed at the Nyos booth by Christian Kapaun, who showed us a wide range of new things to see and experience firsthand. The first eye-catching item at the Nyos booth was undoubtedly the new all-in-one Opus G2 in the PRO version, which we had already seen during its presentation at ReefAPalooza Orlando, although we have yet to release our report on that event. But before diving in, let’s start with our video.

The new Nyos Pure Salt
Following the outline of our video, let’s start with the new salt, called Pure Salt. The name reflects the goal of this salt: to be absolutely pure. In fact, it is made using ultra-pure pharmaceutical-grade ingredients. This should ensure the total absence of contaminants, as we will see.
To verify its purity, Nyos has included a QR code on each bag of salt that links to the specific analysis of that particular batch. In addition, for quick reference, it lists the measured values of Calcium, KH, Magnesium, and Potassium at 35 parts per thousand salinity. By opening the link, you can read all the other values. This is done in collaboration with Triton, ensuring maximum safety for salt buyers and ultimate transparency from Nyos.
The batch we saw at the event had average values of 8.4 dKH, Calcium at 437 ppm, Magnesium at 1344 ppm, and Potassium at 399 ppm. These are optimal values for managing a marine aquarium.
Above, we can see the comparison of Nyos Pure Salt with three other commercial salts (which we can’t name) and natural seawater. I agree with comparing secondary elements like Manganese, Barium, Copper, Aluminum, Zinc, and Iron, since Calcium, Magnesium, and KH can easily be measured and adjusted at home. However, an increase in these other trace elements could lead to problems in our aquarium without us even realizing it.
Using pharmaceutical-grade components ensures very quick dissolution in water, although I would still prefer to wait at least 24 hours before performing a water change. To achieve a salinity of 35 parts per thousand, you need between 38 and 39 grams of salt, a good value that aligns with the best salts on the market.
The new Nyos Opus G2 complete aquarium
At Interzoo, the object of desire was obviously the beautiful new all-in-one Nyos Opus G2 in the PRO and SLIM versions. This is a complete aquarium first introduced in 2018, which has since been improved and is now available in two different versions. Below, we see the PRO 440 version. The PRO version differs from the SLIM in many details.
As you can see, the cabinet is wider than the aquarium footprint, the doors are very thick, and the hinges are huge and high-quality, coated to prevent rust. Both versions feature transparent silicone with a blue back panel, a shade chosen to enhance the colors of fish and corals without being as harsh as black. The drain now uses a bulb valve instead of a membrane valve for increased stability. The interior space of the cabinet is, of course, larger in the PRO version. In the PRO version, the bottom of the tank sits lower than the cabinet level, creating a stunning immersive effect.
The overflow system is fantastic, identical in both models. It features a grill embedded in the glass and a silent Bean Animal drain system with a safety overflow—currently the best on the market. The included sump is complete and can accommodate a large protein skimmer. Also noteworthy is the separate and taller ATO (Auto Top Off) reservoir, which holds more RO water.
Above, we see the small sump in the G2 SLIM 200 version, which is a 55x55x55 cm (h) cube, yet it has a fully functional sump despite its compact size of just 55 cm wide.
Nyos also presented new lines of 55 cm and 70 cm wide tanks at Interzoo. In fact, we couldn’t resist and already have the brand-new G2 PRO 250 at home, measuring 70x55x53 (h) cm, in a gray finish. It just arrived, still unpacked, but I’m sure you’ll soon see every detail of it.
Nyos Fish trap
We also stopped to check out the Nyos Fish Trap, which we had already introduced on these pages, but seeing it in person always leaves a different impression.
It truly seems like the perfect trap. As soon as the external magnet is removed, it rotates, trapping the fish. You can also place algae inside the trap, designed to accept food from the top. Very well made. It would be interesting to test it with difficult-to-catch fish.
In the video, you can see how it works. If you plan to use it in your aquarium, you should exclusively feed your fish in the trap.
The new modular filter Torq G2
Finally, Nyos has also updated its modular Torq G2 filter. This filter now takes up less space and is available in three different models. The filter consists of a base and a body, with capacities of 750 ml, 1 liter, or 2 liters.
Compared to the old model, the media retention system has changed—from sponges to a series of grids with different mesh sizes. This ensures longer durability and easier cleaning. The flow system has also been improved, and the base now uses four small suction cups instead of silicone feet. This reduces noise and increases system stability.
The base and cylinder are interchangeable with the previous model, allowing for maximum versatility. So if you already own a Torq filter, you can upgrade just the cylinder, purchasing a larger or smaller one based on your needs, or the new base while keeping your old cylinder.
